FAVORITE RVING GADGETS
One of the main differences between your RV and your home
(beside the wheels) is the space. While on the road, you must
think carefully about what to bring and what to leave at home.
You can bring only the essentials.
Of course, what is essential may well differ from one person to
another. Below is a list of some of the more interesting "toys" that
members of RV-T think they cannot live without. No one could
possibly carry all of these items, but perhaps you will find a few
that you need to add to your collection. (You will probably also
find some that you think only an idiot would carry, but remember
idiocy is in the eye of the beholder!)
Most of these can be found in either an RV catalog or in the
kitchen section of a general department store:
- Slow cooker-crockpot,
- Rice cooker,
- Food processor
- Bread maker.
- Electric skillet
- Steamer.
- George Foremans Lean Mean Grillin machine
- Microwave / Convection Oven.
- Toaster/oven
- Pizza stone
- Battery powered shredder/food processor
- Cordless battery powered mixer.
- Microwave pressure cooker
- A regular pressure cooker
- A comfortable lounging chair
- Small compact vegetable cooker.
- Convenient and RV safe holder
- Expensive perfume and bath oils needed for cleaning up and
smelling better
- A personal deluxe CB
- A larger and better stabilized mirror at the passenger's side
- A personal RV tool kit
- Headphone transceivers to help with back up instructions from the
outside
- Pit-2-go or a washing machine tub for campfires
- A power screwdriver
- An electric knife and bread holder to slice homemade bread
- A hand blender
- A coffee bean grinder for those who need a fix
- All-in-one remote control for TV, VCR, and satellite receiver
- A "fat trapper" for the kitchen grease
- Large round self-adhesive outdoor thermometer for a window
- A separate leveler to check the built in levelers
- Water filter
- Small rug samples to cover the main rugs (which can be pitched
when dirty)
- A Leatherman tool
- CorningWare pots which can be used on stove tops, microwaves,
or conventional ovens
- Wine glasses
- Pancake/sandwich griddle
- Non-skid shelf liner to place between pans
- Small folding table
- Stick-on hooks
- Food whip
- Piggy bank to keep pocket change
- Diffuser for stove top, allowing you to keep a pot on the burner at
a slow simmer without burning the contents
- Travel steam iron
- 18" window boxes for growing herbs
- Nylon kitchen scrubber

- Skin So Soft to keep off the bugs
- MagLite flashlights: the kind that police use; expensive but they
always work
- Gerber MultiTool: stainless steel; comes with belt pouch and one
model comes with adapter and various screwdriver bits
- Indexing level: installed above the regular side level on a 5W
- Solar fridge fan: exhausts hot air from exterior coils
- Battery-powered shaver and beard trimmer
- Bag chairs that fold up tightly to store in a narrow bag, perfect for
guests or for carrying to camp fires or concerts
- Snap-on water hose fittings
- Cordless air compressor
- Patio mat
- The "pony-tail" ties the young girls use. (Rubber bands with small
balls attached) .Good to tie up hoses, cords and computer cables
- A roll up table
- The gadget that you install in your black water tank. It attaches to
any hose and sprays in all directions inside; it takes seconds to
attach and detach
